Services > Introduction
The main complex of the Centre is laid out with three wings on the north, south and west, each designed to serve a separate function. While cultural programmes are open to the interested public in the south wing, the Centre offers residential and catering facilities to members and their guests in the north wing. The lounge, dining hall and services are located on the west side, overlooking the Lodi gardens.
Facilities at the Centre and the Annexe now include forty eight single rooms and forty five double rooms. Most rooms at the main complex open directly on to the lawns or the Lily Pond on the ground floor, and they are provided with private verandahs on the first and second floors. All guest rooms are centrally air-conditioned, and provided with telephones, television and internet connections.
The main dining hall at the Centre is perhaps one of the first in the city to be designed as a hexagonal room, with three of the four sides glassed, opening out to overlook the Lodi gardens. Wide spacious windows give the experience of a wrap-around sensation of trees and walkways--of being in harmony with nature.
The Centre's beautiful and low-profile buildings express, as the architect Joseph Allen Stein himself said, the 'informal or romantic approach, where each function seeks out its own expression'.
Entertaining at the Centre
Lunching in the dining room is an occasion to enjoy the privilege of being a member or guest, or a visitor staying in the guest rooms. The Centre offers wholesome meals at affordable prices, limited varieties of Indian, Continental and Chinese cuisine.
The IIC Bar also offer facilities for members and residents. The Lounge offers a more informal setting for discussions.
The residential and catering services are run on a no-profit and no-loss basis, for the benefit of members, their guests, and visiting academics. .
