LIBRARY CUBICLES
1. The Library cubicles can be rented out only to the Member-Scholars of the Centre keeping in view the importance of their projects and the availability of material on their projects in the Library.
2. The rental for each cubicle is Rs 400 per month plus ten per cent service charge.
3. The maximum period for which a cubicle can be rented out is six months.
4. Each cubicle is meant for quiet study by one person only.
5. Personal books can be brought in only with the permission of the Chief Librarian. A list of such books should be deposited at the Counter.
6. The rare books from the “India Collection”, “Himalayan Club Library” and the Library’s own collection will not be allowed to be taken inside a cubicle for consultation.
7. A maximum of ten books can be issued for use in the cubicle for a fortnight at a time and may be renewed provided there is no reservation for them.
8. No reference book will be allowed to be kept in the cubicle.
9. Smoking is strictly prohibited in the cubicle.
10. The consumption of tea, snacks and meals is not permitted in the cubicle.
11. Guests are neither to be brought in nor entertained in the cubicle.
12. The Library will retain one key of the cubicle for emergency purposes.
13. A Member who does not use the cubicle continuously for 30 days will forfeit the right to use it for the rest of the allotted term unless he / she informs the Chief Librarian in writing and allows him to transfer it, if possible, to a needy Member for the period of his absence.
14. A Member who has released the cubicle to be used in his absence cannot claim the extension of the term for the period he remains absent, nor can a Member to whom it is offered in the interim period.
15. A Member who is allotted a cubicle should not allow it to be used by another person in his absence. If he does, his allotment will be cancelled with immediate effect.
LIBRARY LOCKERS
1. The Library lockers can be rented out only to Members using the reading room facilities regularly in connection with their research or writing work.
2. The rental for each locker will be Rs 50 for 15 days.
3. The period for which a locker can be rented out is fifteen days. Further extensions may be allowed subject to there being no other applicant on the waiting list.
4. Each locker will be used for keeping the Member’s published books and research notes, and nothing else.
5. The payment of the rental bill will be made in advance before taking possession of the locker.
6. The Library will retain one key of the locker for emergency purposes.
7. The Centre will not be responsible for any thefts or losses that may occur during the use of a locker by a Member.
READING ROOM
1. Strict silence should be observed in the Library.
2. Photocopying facilities will be available for research and reference only at Re 1 per page.
3. Electronic equipment/laptops which are used as word processors and make a noise will not be allowed to be used in the reading room.
4. Use of pagers and cell phones will not be allowed in the reading room.
5. Members will be charged Rs 100 every time their cell phone rings in the library. Any member who is penalised three times will be liable to suspension of the membership of the Library.
6. Tables for researchers cannot be reserved. No books, papers, etc. should be left on these tables.
7. A member should hold only one newspaper or journal for reading at a time and replace it in position after use.
DELNET FACILITIES
1. Members can search DELNET’s online database through a terminal at the Reference Desk.
2. DELNET’s special inter-library loan facility can be availed of by Members.
INTERNET
INTERNET facility to Members and Residents is
available in the Library free of charge. Printouts
are charged at Rs 2 per page.
SCANNING FACILITY
Scanning facility is available in the Library only for researchers at Rs 30 per page.
VIDEO CASSETTES/CDs
1. Video cassettes and CDs will be issued out to Members for quiet use in the Library and not to be issued out on loan.
2. Before a Member checks out of the Library, he/she
should return the video cassette/CD to the Library
Counter and get the issue entry cancelled against
his/her name.
3. Video cassettes and CDs should be handled with care. In case of damage, Members will have to replace them.
RENEWAL OF MEMBERSHIP
Books will not be issued to Members who fail to pay the annual membership dues by March every year
